Saint Patrick’s was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. When he escaped that’s when he returned about 432 to convert the Irish to Christianity. He had established monasteries, churches, and school at the time of his death on March 17th 461. The Emigrants of the United States transformed St. Patrick’s Day into a largely secular holiday of revelry and celebration of many things Irish and united state. First, Saint Patrick’s Day parade held by the Boston in 1737.
